If the hoses from the engine to the heater core are missing you will have to get a flash light and search from underneath the car or open the hood and remove the air cleaner assembly to find where the hose must attach to.

Background:

Heater cores are removable and connect to either solid plastic or metal pipes or rubber hose which then travel through the firewall that separates the engine and passenger compartment. from there there are usually two rubber hoses that connect to either metal piping or directly to the engine block. Basically, the engine has water that circulates in it's walls AND often to the heater core as well. This way the heater core heats up more quickly rather than trying to heat all the liquid in the radiator. Next, there is a thermostat which opens once the liquid reaches a certain temperature (~ 190 degrees F). There is outbound pipe from the engine block to the heater core and a return back to th engine block and a much larger inbound and outbound rubber hose to the radiator and back to the engine. The engine has a water pump that circulates all of this liquid. Check out "how stuff works" to get a better idea.

They connect to the inlet and outlet on the heater core. That is probably not the answer you are looking for and I am probably misunderstanding your question, but I see no other answer.

How do you find and replace the water temp sender or sensor on a 91 Miata?

It's on the back of the engine, beneath the coil pack (where the spark plugs are connected to the back of the engine). It's a very tight fit unless you have small hands, since it's so close to the firewall. Another way to find it is to locate the heater hoses that are connected to the right side of the firewall. Follow the left-most heater hose, and it will connect to the rear outlet of the engine. The Coolant sensor will be found there.

Yes, as long as you connect the incoming and outgoing heater hoses that were connected to the heater core together. You will not have a functioning heater or defroster but otherwise it will be fine to drive.

Where is the heater valve on a 1988 Chevy truck?

The heater valve is in line in the heater hose from the top back of the 350 engine about half way to where it enters the firewall to connect to the heater core. The valve has a steel wire control cable connected to the top of the valve control lever. It has two hose connections, one in from the engine and one out to the firewall core entry point. Trace your heater hoses and look for the metal valve with the spiral covered control wire.

How do you replace the block heater cord on a 1990 Mercury Topaz?

If its just the cord, then follow the old cord to the back side of the engine ( really the side of the engine closest to the firewall ) and replace it. When the engine is cold, plug it in and you will hear the block heater heating up. If you don't hear anything, then replace the heater also. That requires a little more knowledge.

How do you connect the heater bypass valve to the water pump?

It depends on what kind of car and engine you have. Some don't connect to the water pump but to the radiator.
