Mukden was the largest land battle in history, until WW1 (formally called the "Great War" prior to WW2). ALL RUSSIAN INFANTRYMEN MOUNTED BAYONETS ON THEIR RIFLES during the war. The Russian infantrymen carried the vaunted Mosin-Nagant bolt action model 1891 rifle in .308 caliber (7.62mm). The Russo-Japanese War of 1904 was the Nagant's first baptism in blood in major warfare. Both sides conducted bayonet charges at Mukden.
