we do not know the full history of horses, but the prezewalski's horse originated in Asia, and those horses are very primitive. they could have been alive (the breed, i mean for all you blondes. xD no offense just a joke) for thousands of years
Horses originally evolved over the North American and Eurasian continents. Then during the course of the ice ages and other events the horse died out in North America. It was reintroduced in large numbers by the Spanish Explorers.
Horses are native to all sorts of places, but the first place you'll think of is America. All though there are Brumbys in Australia they are not native.
