The starter is bolted onto the transmission on the driver side. There are two bolts that holds the starter in place. The first bolt is located under the starter which is easy to get. The second bolt is located on the top of the starter which has a tight sqeeze to get to. Most mechanic will drop the transmission or loosen the transmission to get to it. With due respect, if you have small hands, you may be able to reach it.
There are 2 one on the bottom easy to see and access. The other is on the top hard to see and access. You will need about a 12 inch's worth of extension to make it easier. Good Luck and Remember.

I have a 94 Nissan sentra but it's the same body style. My starter is located right below all the air intake hoses. the easiest way to find the starter is to take the airbox stuff out and then follow the ground wire from the negative end of the battery (the only wire leading off the negative end) to where it attatches to the transmission. The bolt that that wire attatches to is one of two bolts that attatches the starter to the transmission.
The crank sensor is located beside starter, remove 2 starter bolts drop starter you will see it very easy took me 5 min the change mine, (maxamuscoal). P.s yes you have to remove starter there is no way around this.
It is attached to the starter, which is under the car. Look for the rear of the starter sticking out on the driver's side of the car. Remove the housing cover (3 bolts), and then the 2 bolts hold in the starter to remove it and gain access to the solenoid. TD

The starter is located under the intake manifold. You will have to remove the intake manifold being very careful not to drop any of the bolts into an in port. The starter is fairly easy to access once the manifold is off.
remove the neg battery cable then the wires on the starter. Then take out the mounting bolts and work the starter out.
