We live in Lyford Cay, New Providence Island. (Nassau) We love the community. The island has it all. Meaning world class everything. Great beach's, entertainment, dining, Golf, Scuba, etc. Want to get away, but still have some amenities, our second choice would be? Try Eleuthera, (Harbor Island too) the Exumas, or Long Island. Third choice would be Abaco and Grand Bahama, which are extremely nice in the their own ways. Want total peace and quiet with just enough? Go to Cat Island or San Salvador. After that you get in to the true fishing lodge total retreats of Ragged Island etc.

Every island is different in its own unique way. Many islands are accessible by normal air carriers or by ferry. Many islands are only accessible by private ship and don't even have an airstrip. My favorite islands are the "out islands" of the Bahamas. They are far away from most tourists and have undisturbed beaches.
