A bad transmission.
your problem is the transmission. you need to replace the transmission
Buy a rebuilt transmission and install it.
Left side (drivers side) of transmission.
You blew your transmission, took out the reverse gear. You'll have to take it to a tranny shop and get it rebuilt (not cheap), or replace it yourself with one from a scrap yard. ($600 in parts, a weekend to do it)
If this is an automatic transmission, more than likely the transmission is on it's way to the junkyard. Usually failing transmissions lose reverse first, then the higher forward gears - last will be the lowest forward gears.
It will fit, But it won't WORK. The 1999 transmission is electronic and requires a computer and speed sensors to make it shift right. You need one from 1987 down.
