Where can I find a replacement needle for my Magnavox Micromatic console stereo?

The best places to look are on eBay or on different websites created specifically for selling needles. Many of these websites have a way to contact the creator, and the people are usually very helpful. Most of them will do all they can to get you to the right needle. If you have a serial number and pictures it will help a lot.

The existing needle should have a model number listed on it. On our Magnavox turntable from the same era it is listed as a Tetrad T2MD. This particular replacement can be found here and many other places around. How do you find the year of a Magnavox console stereo?
There are several different ways to tell. If the console has a built-in 8-track tape player, its likely from the 1970s. If the radio face says ASTRO-SONIC its from the mid or late 1960s. Also, assuming the record player hasn't been swapped out in the past, that's a good way to check. From the late 1950s to the mid 60s, the needle arm was black with a gold elliptical piece in the head. In the late 60s the arm was very slim and gray. Towards the early 70s, it was even slimmer and silver. Hope this helps.
