What was Cain's respone to God's question when he killed his brother?

There are several ways of defining the conflict between Cain and Abel. In Genesis, Cain kills Abel because God was pleased with his sacrificial offering, but rejected Cain's offering.Leon R. Kass (The Beginning of Wisdom: Reading Genesis) points out that the birth of Abel is not celebrated by his mother. Abel, introduced only as "his brother, Abel" seems to be an afterthought. There is no described relation to his mother, only to Cain. If he is important only or mainly as Cain's brother, arguably he only exists in the Book of Genesis to play his role in the drama that follows.Asaph Sagiv believes that there is an Egyptian antecedent to the story of Cain and Abel. He suggests that the Cain and Abel story represents a biblical countermyth to the Egyptian story of Osiris and his brother Seth. In that story, Seth, an evil god of the nomads, kills Osiris, the Egyptian god of the earth's fertility. In Genesis, Cain (an Osiris figure) offers a cult sacrifice (Abel) to the earth; the Lord curses the ground for accepting the victim's blood and banishes Cain from his divine presence; and Seth appears as a substitute for the nomadic victim whose sacrifice the biblical God preferred. There is also a possible nationalistic theme to the story. The Hebrews identified themselves as keepers of sheep, while their neighbours to the west and north were farmers, or tillers of the ground. We find that the innocent victim was a keeper of sheep, while the evil Cain was a farmer.

How does the story of Cain and Abel fit into the story of your salvation?

Cain and Abel were the first two sons of Adam and Eve. Cain murdered Abel and was banished to Nod. So Adam and Eve had another son and named him Seth. In the Gospel according to Luke, chapter 3 we find the genealogy of Jesus Christ. In verse 38 it tells us, "the son of Enos, the son of SETH, the son of Adam, the son of God. Seth is the Godly line from which Jesus came when He was born in the flesh. Would Adam and Eve had another son and named him Seth if the story of Cain and Abel were different? Answer: God would have had a way to bring forth the godly ancestry of Jesus by some means, and possibly by a son named Seth. Salvation is by Jesus Christ.

Why isn't Cain listed in the blood line of Jesus?

Cain was not in the blood line of Jesus. Cain and Abel were sons of Adam and Eve. Cain killed Abel and Cain went to the land of Nod. Adam and Eve had another son by the name of Seth (Genesis 4:25-26.) You will find Seth in the genealogy found in Luke 3:23-38).

Where was the biblical figure Abel born did he marry have kids your son is writing a 2 page Biography about Abel and would like to find interesting or relevant facts about him?

We have precious little information on Abel. All we know from scripture is that Abel was born after Cain. However, we do not know the location of his birth. We do know that Adam and Eve were no longer allowed access to Eden, so Abel couldn't have been born there. We know that Abel kept watch over sheep and that he sacrificed the from the best of his herd and offered the fat parts to God in offering. We know that God was satisfied with Abel's sacrifice and was not satisfied with Cain's sacrifice. Finally, we know that Cain murdered Abel. That's it as far as I know with regard to his story. There are other references to Abel in scripture, even from Christ. Scripture also refers to a physical place that included the name Abel, probably in reference to the Abel of Genesis. Scripture says nothing about Abel ever marrying or having children, as far as I know. Both Cain and Abel are said to have been conceived and born after man's fall, so they did not have the privilege of seeing Eden in its glory. However, because of God's conversation with Cain after the murder, we see that God apparently still interacted directly with at least some men. We see nothing is scripture that indicated Cain was surprised to hear from God, so it had most probably happened before.

When God sent Cain out he placed a mark not to be hurt by what people?

A:In the story of Cain and Abel, they were the sons of Adam and Eve. The four were the only people on earth when Cain murdered Abel. Yet Cain feared other people, "everyone", would seek to kill him. The best explanation is that myths evolve in such a way that there remains a connection from one story to another, but each as story diverges, it develops its own elements. Once we move on from the story of Adam and Eve, it is no longer relevant that there should be no one else in the world. Cain and Abel moved in a world where there were other people, some of whom Cain feared and some of whom helped him build the city of Enoch (Genesis 4:17).A:Most likely members of Abel's clan, or perhaps one of his other brothers or their descendants. Most people assume that because there are no other children of Adam and Eve are mentioned, that there were none, or that because Genesis chapter 4 follows chapter 3, that there was nothing happening in between. Because we are dealing with a story from a very different world than the one we know from our experience, we must pay close attention to the key details that will give us some important clues. In Genesis 5:3 we find out that Adam was 130 years old when he and Eve had Seth born, who was the first child after that Cain killed Abel as that event was still fresh in Eve's memory (Genesis 4:25), that would indicate that Cain killed Abel around year 129 from creation. In 129 years, this youthful and healthy couple (Adam lived 930 years), living in a world with no television, no fluoridated water, and eating pure, organic, vegan diet would at least have had a 100 children, I can not say exactly how many but it is clear that Cain, Abel and Seth were not the only ones (Genesis 5:4) Besides that Cain and Abel would have been well over a 100 years old at the time, old enough to have lots of children and grand children of their own. So to answer your question - there were lots of people for Cain to be afraid of, as a murderer of the patriarch of a rival tribe.

What is the symbolic significance of Cain and abel in relation to Ishmael?

A:Although no such symbolism was intended by the biblical authors, I am sure we can find a symbolic relationship between Cain and Abel on the one hand, and Isaac and Ishmail on the other. Simply decide what significance you want to find, then look for similarities that suit your needs. This includes that they are brothers, one brother in each case is a biblical forefather of the Israelites and so on.

Why does Claudius identify himself with Cain?

Claudius identifies himself with Cain because he sees himself as a murderer, just as Cain murdered his brother Abel. By comparing himself to Cain, Claudius acknowledges his guilt and the sin he committed by killing his brother, King Hamlet. This reference reflects Claudius's internal struggle with his actions and his attempt to come to terms with his crimes.

Did god like Cain?

Short answer - God probably had divine love for Cain, but that doesn't mean God "liked" Cain's actions and choices. Cain decided to openly rebel against God. Cain's rebellion toward God wasn't temporary, it was a permanent condition of his heart. In effect, Cain alienated himself from God's Favor and Love. Remember, Cain was "cursed" only after he refused to repent and change his relationship for the better with God.
