To replace interior Ford fusion door handle you must remove the door panel, take off the old handle and replace with the new one, and then replace the panel back on the door frame.
Interior door handle plastic wears at the connection point to cable. Interior handle assembly needs to be replaced. Original is riveted in place.
Drill it out and when replacing use a screw.
In the opening where the handle goes through the door panel you should be able to feel a small bolt. Removing this bolt will allow the old handle to come off for replacement.
remove the interior door panel and you can get at the door handle, disconnect the rod and loosen the clips that hold it against the door, the whole assembly will come right out.
how to remove front outer door handle on a 2013ford fusion
these are popular to break...drivers side as that is the one that is used more.......the handle does not come alone...you have to replace the entire assembly...around 75.00 bucks...and it is done by removing the interior door panel youll see the screws.....the rest is easy B.C.
My experience with this problem has been a bent inside door handle that eventually breaks completely off, but before doing so it gets harder and harder to release the latch. Another possibility is kiddy lock but this would be unusual on a driver door unless the handles and locks had been swapped over at some stage. It is usually fitted in back doors so children can't open the door in a moving car. Here is a great link to remove the interior door handle. It is not a big job. http://www.bodyshopzone.com/archives/trim/door_panels/Chevy/CK1500_1998/dp_remove_chevy.html Also, I bought the replacement handle assembly from the local Advance Auto Parts store. It was a perfect match for the gray interior of my 1999 Suburban, and cost only $16. You will have to drill out a rivet, but it can be replaced with a simple machine screw when re-installing the new handle assembly. The assembly fits into the door very tightly with some teeth that you will see on the back of the unit, which will also help you see how the old one will need to slide in order to be removed one the rivet is drilled out. All in all, this whole repair should take about an hour. And it is great not to have to roll down the window to get out any more!
remove seat belt bolts and pull it out. the rest is just held in with tabs. Second option: Forget taking the door apart - just remove the two bolts holding the latch assembly to the door - Pull the latch assembly out far enough to see the pin that goes through the broken handle - drive the pin out far enough to remove the handle - insert new handle that you just removed from the replacement latch assembly - drive pin back in - Throw the rest of the replacement kit away since all that was broken was a tab on the handle you just replaced.
How to remove the interior door handle assembly/mechanism on a 1992 Toyota Pickup (Same for my 1990 Toyota Pickup - common on several model Toyotas): 1) Remove the single Phillips screw holding the interior door handle assembly/mechanism to the door frame . 2) Facing the interior door, gently grasp and press on the door handle assembly/mechanism and slide it about 1/2 inch toward the front of the car (like sliding a deck of cards), releasing it from the offset slide "dogs" holding it in place. 3) To further remove the assembly from the actuating rod, pull the detached door handle assembly toward the front of the car and grasp the actuating rod with a pair of pliers (or locking grip pliers) to hold it in place. 4) The actuating rod is held in place to the assembly with a small green friction clip (a "snap" fit). First gently slide the friction clip back toward you to release it from holding the actuating rod in place. Then the tip of the actuating rod can be lifted from its place in the assembly. 5) Before re-asssembly in reverse order, use a little lithium grease or vaseline on the parts to assure no breakage and future servicability.
