on the front bumper, there is a small lever toy pull out which releases the hood.
Sorry I can't help, but I have the same question on a 2001 Monte ........ my seat reclines past the first stop. Thanks
You have a combination switch that is defective. The turn signal switch cancel one side from blinking so the oyher stays on solid.
In the steering column there is a donut looking switch ring that the turn signal lever pops into. When it fails you get all sorts of weird turn signal and brake lighting issues. Change it out and beware the air bag.
it has to be one of two ways either the (windsheild washer/ turn signal lever) in witch case you pull it toward you (NOT UP OR DOWN) once to turn them on and once to turn them off. or it is a floor button on the far left side of your floor board. i bet its the first one though.
Steering column gets gummed up with dust and moisture (yes, believe it or not it affects the brakes due to a cancellation wire that hooks to the turn signal" Spray WD40 or NAPA's "Brake and Electric Motor Cleaner" around the flasher switch and turn signal lever on the steering column. then work the switches a couple of times. Problem solved.
I had the same problem on my Monte Carlo and if you look underneath the car, you may find that the linkage could be binding on the exhaust system

If this is for the 1995-1997 Lincoln Continental, the turn signal switch can be removed off the steering column by removing the plastic cover on the column which is two pieces. Once the plastic covers are removed, then remove the turn signal lever by removing 2 torx screw located on the stalk base that connects to the steering column. The lever will remove towards the left and you can unplug the 2 wiring harness's that are plugged into the stalk base. You can bypass the column adjuster and remove to the left side of column.
should be a cam inside the steering column that interfaces with the turn signal lever to shut off the lights. It's most likely broken (most are plastic) and needs to be replaced.
The signal assembly switch needs replacing - simple to do - The part runs about $90.00 and is only available in my area at the dealership. I just had this happen to me, the lever attaches to a plastic switch which seems to break on a lot of vehicles.
