Christianity is based on the life and teachings of Jesus as portrayed by the four aspostles in the gospes of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and all took place in and around Judae in the first century AD.
However, Christianity didn't really become a major religion until it was adapted by Paul of Taursus who was the first person to really spread the gospels around the Middle East. The history of the church since that point is contentious and involved, with numerous ecunimical councils formally codifying the teachings into the rituals and dogma practiced to this day.

∙ 12y agoIt was founded in Palestine by the followers of Jesus of Nazareth (later Christ) in the early first century AD. Palestine was part of the Roman Empire at the time. At first Christianity was a Jewish sect which believed that Jesus of Nazareth was the 'Messiah (or Christ- the 'anointed one'.
