Well martin cooper was an electrical engineer then he started to work for Motorola and the made police radios. His idea for the cell phone was from the police radios. They thought it would be a great idea instead of having to go to somebody house and talk or sit in the car and drive. It made one of the greatest impacts in america.

it was because he hadnt found some thing else to do.....and because he was trying to make his mothers dreams come true... so he invented the portable phone he also made the first call to his mother in New York 1973. So it was his moms idea and martins good handy work.
