General Thomas Jonathan"Stonewall" Jackson was wounded by"friendly fire" on the evening of May 2, 1863 at Chancellorsville. He was removed to a residence near Guiney's Station. He actually died on May 10 by pneumonia contracted while he was bed-ridden due to his wounds and the amputation of his left arm. Jackson's death was a severe blow to the Confederacy. In fact it altered the organization of the Army of Northern Virginia.
