All over the world. The plague started in Asia. Rats, who were hidden on ships, traveled as stowaways to Africa and Europe. The rats then infested fleas, animals, and people's food. This caused the whole 'Old World' (not including the Americas, Australia, and Antarctica) to break out in a terrible plague that killed about 1/3 rd of the population of Europe. It was worse in Europe because people lived so close together and were so very unsanitary. People ate huge legs of ham with their hands and poured their chamber pots out their windows. Gross!
