One of the major testaments to Abraham's faith and trust is the fact that he
picked up and left even though he was not told where to go.
Start reading at Genesis 12, and it pretty much hits you in the face. Abraham
was basically instructed: Leave! Get out of the place you know, the place where
you were born, the place where you live with your extended family, and go!
Just start moving, and when you get to a place where I want you to be, I'll
let you know. And the very next detail in the text is: "And so he went." There's
no indication of any ambivalence or hesitation.
God told abraham to go to Canan (aka Israel).
No, god told Abraham to take his family and his followers and lead them to Palestine for a Jewish homeland.
God told Abraham that He wolud lead him. He brought Abraham to Caanan.
God lead Abraham to Canaan.

God told him to "go to the land that I (God) shall tell you," and Abraham journeyed to Canaan (Present-day Israel) and lived there (Genesis ch.12).

what were the messages that god sent to the prophet Abraham to tell his people?
A:The main god of both Ur and Haran was the moon god, Sin. Some scholars point out that Abraham's travel from Ur to Haran and then to Canaan brings to mind the migration of the moon god from Ur to Israel, with Abraham representing the moon god.
God told Abraham to take Isaac to the region of Moriah to offer him as a sacrifice.
God told Abraham to leave Ur and go to a new land.
It was God, not the Satan. God was simply testing Abraham's belief in Him and never intended for the killing to actually happen, which is why He sent the angel right before Isaac would have been killed.
As you may already know, Abraham and his wife Sarah, were both really old when they had Isaac. As a test, God told Abraham to sacrifice his son. If he had enough faith in God, he wouldn't have to worry about what happened to his son. Abraham took his son up to the altar and Isaac asked what they were offering. Abraham said, "The LORD will provide the offering." Abraham tied his son to the altar and prepared to kill him when an angel of the LORD appeared to him. He told Abraham to let his son go, he had showed his faith in God. Abraham had passed the test.
God had asked him as a test of faith to sacrifice his son, and Abraham was obeying by faith - knowing God could raise him again - but was not required to carry it out.
It is called the "Covenant"-- the promise Abraham made with God, and God made with Abraham.
