The drink coaster was originally called a slider. They were used to place cold bottles or glasses on to prevent damage to whatever was underneath. They were also used to slide the item across the surface. It was replaced with the word coaster sometime in the 18th century.
Coaster- "round stand for a decanter" is first attested 1887, possibly from a resemblance to sleds or because it "coasts" around the table to each guest after dinner.

The word "coaster" in roller coaster refers to the method of travel. Roller coaster trains are not powered. Instead they coast from one hill to the next on a set of wheels (or rollers), hence the name.

Au13 is a codename for CGA's coaster. We speculate that the coaster's true name may be "Gold Striker." In the code name, 'Au' is the chemical name for gold (see the periodic table), and the 13 refers to the year the ride will debut, which will be 2013. Coincidentally, if we count every coaster Great America has had, both standing/running and removed, this will be the park's 13th coaster to come in.

There hasn't yet been an established name. The manufacturer of the ride that breaks the record thinks of the name at the time they make the coaster. So when a 500+ foot tall coaster comes out, we will see!
