I am actually looking for a fan diode assembly for my friends 1990 Cherokee lardeo. The diode on the Laredo is located on the drivers side wiring harness near the front headlight. It is a red flat diode with three wires and looks much like a flat connector plug (it measures 1 1/4" long x 1/2" wide x 1/4" thick)
The PIV (Peak Inverse Voltage) rating of a diode is the maximum voltage that you should apply to it in the reverse biased condition. Exceeding this voltage can destroy the diode.
You need to apply an external voltage across the diode. The negative terminal must be connected to the N type material.
if a diode is in forward biased the diode acts as switch is on and when we apply the diode in reverse biased then it work as the switch as off.
You should check the fuse, and also do a computer diognostic. You could need a new radiator fan relay or wiring or diode wiring, or a new fan altogether.
A diode will provide saturating current if it reaches its Piv. What it should be well at least 1.5 of the applied reverse voltage. For AC at least 2 times to insure that the peak REVERSE voltage is blocked
The maximum voltage which can apply When diode in reverse bias..if it is exceed that voltage the diode may get damage.
when we do not apply any source of energy or electricity than a Dodie is said to be un biased Dodie.
to properly test relay you must have relay in circuit apply voltage to pin 1 if there is no diode there will not be a polarity issue. if there is a diode you must apply voltage to proper pin or you will have a short circuit. apply ground to pin 2 with coil energized there will be continuity across the other pins when voltage or ground is denied there will be no continuity. to properly test relay you must have relay in circuit apply voltage to pin 1 if there is no diode there will not be a polarity issue. if there is a diode you must apply voltage to proper pin or you will have a short circuit. apply ground to pin 2 with coil energized there will be continuity across the other pins when voltage or ground is denied there will be no continuity.
The alternator (stator) is located underneath the flywheel. The rotor is the flywheel itself (the magnets are inside the flywheel). AC voltage is sent from the alternator to either a rectifier or diode pack (depending on model). From there, DC voltage is sent to the battery, via the wiring harness.
zener diode :zener diode operates under reverse bias voltageideal diode :ideal diode operates under forward bias voltage
How to test a diode bridge ? Diode bridge is a device is used to convert an AC signals (say AC voltage) to DC output (say DC voltage). So, to test it, you can apply a AC voltage v = Vm Sin (wt) at its 2 inputs and measure DC output voltage Vdc.
