Your car probably has no Transmission Fluid dipstick. For whatever reasons, Pontiac did away with them early on in the Sunfire's existence.
To check your trans fluid, there should be a fill plug under the car in the transmission. To check the level, remove the plug, stick your finger in the hole, remove your finger. If it's wet with fluid, the level is OK. If not, you need to add fluid.
To do this, you'll have to get the car up on jackstands or ramps, but preferably on a lift so the car remains level. Please Use Caution! Cars falling on people is a BAD thing.

It uses dexcool automatic transmission fluid and very rarley needs to be changed, i have a manual shift and it never has to be changed. Actually the only way that you can change it is by having it flushed the same way you flush a radiator, it has to be sucked out by a machine.
