If you are looking at the distributor, there should be a plug w/just a jumper plug in it.Usually towards the passenger side of vehicle. After plug is found and disconnected, hook up timing light set your initial timing, shut vehicle off and disconnect battery.Reinstall plug, hook up battery and restart vehicle and check operation.Hope this info was helpful.
your truck does not have a bypass connector
Greetings, A code 42 indicates that the electronic spark timing bypass circuit or the electronic spark timing circuit is either open or shorted. A malfunctioning HEI module can cause this.
That year does not have 1. The timing is computer controlled and you MUST have an engine scanner to set the timing on that engine. A timing light will not work.
That year did not have one because the timing is computer controlled and can be only adjusted with a Engine SCANNER.
the bypass connector is located on the engine wire harness, next to the left valve cover (watching engine front) next to the air injection control valve.
electronic spark timing connector
Electronic Spark Timing (EST) bypass circuit or EST circuit is grounded or open. HEI Module may be the cause
If you are talking about ignition timing then the answer is easy. You don't. Suzuki's PEI (Pointless Electronic Ignition) takes care of timing the spark. If you are talking about valve timing-resubmit and I will take a stab at explaining it. There is no way to remap the electronic ignition system to change the spark timing.
It advances and retards the engine timing as needed.
The timing for this engine is electronically controlled and not adjustable
Check your timing. Is it possible your timing chain has jumped a tooth?
electronic spark timing is your distributor.
