In the early fifties in Germany and Italy very small cars emerged. These were mostly built by Motorcycle manufacturers. One of the earliest of such attemps was built by Messerschmidt(yes, the same). Never extremely popular, although in total some 22,000 of the different models have been built. This is nothing more actually than a covered motorcycle with two wheels in front. Top speed was a whopping 80 km/h. These cars were made at the same aircraft factory after WW2. When the company re-started the aircraft production, the car company was continued in Regensburg.
