There is no hose under the intake. If it is leaking coolant it is because the intake manifold is cracked on the seam just behind the alt. You have to replace the intake with the modified one from Ford. It's a 6 to 8 hour job.

There actually is a hose under ther intake but I am not sure where it leads. I had a pin hole in mine and have gotten to the hose but have not changed.
On a 4.6L engine, I have never seen a water hose under the intake. Anybody else?
follow the top radiator hose to the front of the engine. Right under the intake manifold answer Thermostats are located in the engine intake of any ford explorer.
Heater Core Return Hose. Stick to the factory one.
What's under the intake is not a hose, it's a pipe which a hose attaches to behind the intake manifold near the firewall. If the hose is leaking, it's a relatively easy task to replace it. If the pipe is leaking, you will have to remove the intake manifold which is not an easy task (minimum 6 hours to remove and replace the manifold!)
you need manifold vacuum for the brake booster.. (intake manifold)
You have to remove the Intake
In a 1991 Ford LTD Crown Victoria ( 5.0 / 302 and 5.8 / 351 ) Follow the top radiator hose from the radiator , it connects to a housing on the front of the intake manifold . The engine cooling thermostat is inside the housing
The thermostat is on top of your intake manifold, on the front side. Locate the radiator hose that runs to your intake, take the hose off and the thermostat will be sitting on the manifold under the hose.
FOLLOW THE TOP RADIATOR HOSE FROM THE RADIATOR TO THE INTAKE, TAKE APART AT THE INTAKE OR NECK, THERMOSTAT IS UNDER HOSE OPENING

The P1405 ERG hose on your Ford explorer XLT is located on the back of the fuel injector pump. The hose goes to the air intake cleaner. The hose is about 2 feet long.
back side center of the intake, right up against the firewall, under the big silver intake plenum. Small hands and arms are a good thing. It has a hose running to it, but should slide out easily enough if you can get your hands on it.
