It circulates throughout the engine area. Unless it leaves the oil pan from the oil plug then it should go into some kinda container so you can dispose of it. Most parts store can do that for you.

Pull or lift the engine, drop the pan then replace the oil pump. Pull or lift the engine, drop the pan then replace the oil pump.

jack the jeep up high and set jack stands under the frame so that when you lower the jack the suspension drops down, now you can get at the bolts and remove the pan easily.
The gasket is probably hardened to the pan and the block. Use a 1" putty knife to wedge it between the pan and block. This should break the seal.
