An assistant patrol leader is an appointed leader that is designated by their patrol leader. They respond only to the patrol leader, who then responds up to the higher ranks themselves.
The wing patch is placed 1/2 inch below the seam centered on the left shoulder on the BDU uniform. On the flight suit, it is attached with velcro in the same position as the BDU's. Please note that the wing patch is no longer authorized for wear on the Air Force blue uniform. Any other questions on wear of the Civil Air Patrol uniform can be referenced to the following regulation: CAPR 39-1
If it is the 2 inch round patrol emblem (i.e. if they are the buffalo patrol) then it goes on the shoulder just below and touching the American Flag. I am not familiar with any other "Buffalo patch" that belongs on the scout uniform unless it is a"temporary patch" from a camp or othe revent that is hung or sewn to the right chest pocket.
Position patches ("badges of office") such as Scoutmaster, Senior Patrol Leader and Librarian go on the left shoulder. On short sleeve shirts with a pocket they should be centered on the pocket. On shirts without a shoulder pocket they should be centered below the unit numerals and touching them.
It is a "temproary patch" that should be worn over the right chest pocket (or hung from the button of the right chest pocket).

It does not belong on the uniform, but is supposed to be sewn on the vest with the other event patches. One (and only one) patch of this type can be worn on the right pocket. This is referred to as a "temporary patch"
