It depends on the year, for Cougars made from '99 till '02, the Automatic Transmission Breather hose is located on the drivers side of the engine, underneath the battery tray.
The location of the transmission vent on a Cougar depends on the year it was made. On the 1999 to 2002 models it is located on the driver's side of the engine.
There is no transmission vacuum hose. That is a vent hose.
its a vent hose
It's just a vent hose. It doesn't connect to anything other than the transmission.
If it's a vent hose it doesn't go anywhere.
that is a vent hose. it hangs freely. does not connect to anything.
The vent hose is for either the transfer case breather or the transmission breather. A light amount of oil residue is normal. If there is a lot of fluid coming out of the hose then it is most likely caused from the transmission getting too hot.
is the transmission operating correctly? if it is , that hose is most likely a vent tube,
There is a redesigned transmission vent that should fix this problem.
Is it a 4-wheel drive ? If it is then that so called vacuum hose hooks to the VENT TUBE on the transfer case and will be clamped to a small bracket that should be bolted to 1 of the top transmission bell housing bolts. The transmission does not have any vacuum hose's on it.
Assuming you mean transmission vent: 1) Excessively high fluid level. 2) Tube has hose incorrectly located.
The Automatic transmission breather tube is on the drivers side of the vehicle and is under the air filter box under the hood, it often reaches up near the battery tray.
