I have atheory about Kitum Cave's importance. DISCLAIMER: IT IS JUST AN EDUCATED GUESS! #1: You see, viruses, like bacteria, can die, OR, suffer damage in prolonged exposure to sunlight. They also grow better in damp conditions. Thus, Kitum Cave is an utopia for microorganisms and bats. It has been proved that bats RARELY have trace amounts of filoviruses (Marburg and Ebola). The infected bats then fly out of the cave at night, possibly chomping on someone, or defecate in their homes, and fly back into Kitum Cave at dawn.#2: Another possibility is that elephants could become carriers for Ebola/Marburg. And in the book, The Hot Zone, it said that elephants live there part time. So, the elephants get filoviruses, don't die from it, go back out into the jungle, and infect monkeys, bats, humans, etc, etc.#3: The people who contracted Marburg may have accidentally cut themselves somewhere in the cave.#4: Contaminated water.I hope that these theories serve you well.
he could have been exposed to it through the bat guano he in countered while exploring kitum cave. Also i am a sexy beast
