Is Lake Victoria in Africa the largest or the second largest lake in the world?

Lake Victoria is usually considered the third largest lake in the world. The largest is the Caspian Sea (Asia) at 143,250 square miles, 371,000 sq km. Second is Lake Superior (North America), 31,000 sq miles, 82,414 sq km. Third is Lake Victoria (Central Africa), 26,000 sq miles, 69,485 sq km. However, some sources consider Lake Huron and Lake Michigan as a single lake, which would make it second on the list at 45,410 sq miles, 117, 611 sq km. That would drop Victoria to fourth. For some help with why there are different lakes listed as largest, please see this site: http://geology.com/records/largest-lake.shtml

Where did Lake Victoria get its name?

John Hanning Speke, searching for the source of the Nile in 1858, was the first European to sight it. He named it for Queen Victoria; the Arabs had called it Ukerewe.

The real name to the lake is called lake Nalubaale. The kingdom of Buganda surrounding the lake has 52 clans, but the original five clans have their holy temples inside the lake on the ssese islands so are other clans that joined later. Lubaale (a prophet led by the creator through natural revelations) is a saint who did extraordinary things at the time people needed deliverance. so basically these lubaales came with revelations from the creator to help or deliver people from situations of uncertainty just like Jesus or Mohammed, bob marley, Martin Luther or Nelson Mandela.

So when all lubaales or saints or prophets came together to pray they came to these islands that's why they call them and the lake Nalubaale. The "Na" prefix stands fo all these lubaales joined together. In the natural geophysical world, the lake Nalubaale or Victoria has a self sustaining system that doesn't rely on external forces. Its water comes from direct precipitation i.e the lake releases moisture from its waters due to sunshine, the moisture condenses into vapor and comes back as rain. its the only lake on earth that does this yet at the same time it has the longest river running out of it. River Kiyiira (meaning "pouring") or Nile is the longest river on earth. They call it Kiyiira (pour) because it pours out water at its source which water is a source of life for lands outside the kingdom of Buganda all the way to Egypt and lands outside of africa beyond Mediterranean sea.

Foreign funny scientists (call them dumb) from Texas one time tried to prove the might of this lake by introducing a foreign predator fish "Nile perch" into the lake. The foreign predator fish fed on all the 600 native fish species to extinction. This was in 1974-75, good enough they had a log of the native fish that extincted. 20 years later they went back to the same lake and found almost 700 brand new species they had never seen before, they indeed agreed that it was a miraculous lake with natural Godly powers. The lake has 4 river tributaries flowing into it but their amount of water is insignificant compared to that it pours out through river Nile (kiyiira).

If you a mathematician and do the differential equations of water coming in from tributaries to water going out and also water that comes down from the rain you will find that the rain water has the biggest volume. meaning for as long as the sun rises that lake will never deplete. The headquarters of Buganda kingdom reside in the lake, the Baganda (people living in buganda kingdom) say its where life originates (garden of Eden) and also The creator himself has his main temple, house, island called Butonda (village of creation) inside this lake. In this same lake is another holy island called musaambwa where only Men, snakes and birds reside. The men have to go offshore to have sex, the birds on this island come from every part of the planet more like angels in the bible, the snakes on this island don't bite or harm people.
