Secondly, equalize as many factors as possible.
a. All canoes start at the same point.
b. All canoes head in the same direction.
c. All canoes end at the same point.
d. All canoe's are of the same wood and weight.
e. All canoe's have same number of paddlers.
f. All canoes have paddlers of equal ability.
g The water conditions for each observation are simular.
Thirdly, variables must be noted, such as, wind direction, change of wind speed & direction, temperature of air & water and general lake conditions.

Between November and April the temperature is warm with equatorial rains and thunderstorms, with the worst storms in March. After that, there is much less rainfall. From May to September there is very little rain at all.
