Likely a inline type (fuseable link wire) look for a section of wire usually near the battery that is discolored or try to stretch the wire they can burn off or break internaly, test this wire at back of alternator with test light and engine and key off, you should have power at the output terminal as long as the battery cables are connected.
Apparently the alternator is bad or the battery is shot, take the car to autozone and get a free charging system check.
disconnect battery. remove electrical connections from alternator. remove serpentine belt. remove alternator mounting bolts and remove alternator. Installation is reverse of removal.

remove negative battery cable. remove electrical connectors from alternator. remove belt. remove bolts holding alternator, I believe there are two, then remove the alternator. Installation is reverse. very easy job.
It's inside the alternator, if yours is bad replace the alternator or tear the alternator apart and replace the regulator.

The voltage regulator on a 1989 Chevy Camaro is inside of the alternator. If you are having issues, such as flickering lights, you might have to replace the entire alternator.

If you are 100% sure the alternator is good, then either the wiring or the battery are bad. If the battery has a dead cell it will not hold a charge. Disconnect the battery cables and clean the connections. Charge the battery with a battery charger, and then connect the cables. If the battery is over 3 years old, it is more than likely bad.
Check the battery and alternator. In hot weather we tend to use more juice from the battery because we run a stereo and the A/C.
It would be best to remove the alternator and take it to an electrical shop.
