Oxygen Sensor
There are actually (4) O2 sensors on your truck. If you look inside the wheel wells behind the fender liner, right about where the frame is one O2 sensor, the other is underneath the truck about half way back in relation to the transmission. If you see where the exhaust joints together, you went about 6" too far.
When you start looking at the O2 sensors, they are normally numbered something like "Bank 1 Sensor 1" Bank 1 is on the passenger side; Bank 2 is on the driver's side. Sensor 1 is the upstream sensor (near the frame, between the block and the cat) and Sensor 2 is near the Y-pipe (downstream of the cat).
Normally it is the upstream sensors (sensor 1) that go first. They see the harshest conditions.
You will need;
Oxygen Sensor Socket
Anti-Seized
Penetrating Oil
If everything else fells there always heat. Heat them up and they will come right off.
Sometimes it will take 15 minutes or take a few hours it depends on your luck…
Bank one is the passenger side of the engine on your Lincoln Navigator
passenger side is bank 1 the closest to the engine is sensor 1 of the 2 on each side
On a Lincoln Navigator : Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine * sensor 1 would be close to the engine BEFORE the exhaust enters the catalytic converter
On a 2000 Lincoln Navigator : Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine Sensor 1 would be close to the engine before the exhaust enter the catalytic converter ( upstream sensor ) Sensor 2 ( downstream sensor ) would be in the exhaust after the exhaust exits the catalytic converter
Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine in a Lincoln Navigator Sensor 1 is in the exhaust before the exhaust enters the catalytic converter so it would be close to the engine / front of the transmission area
On a Lincoln Navigator : Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine Sensor 1 is close to the engine and sends a signal to the Powertrain Control Module that it uses to adjust the fuel ratio Sensor 2 would be in the exhaust AFTER the exhaust passes through the catalytic converter ( downstream sensor , also called a catalyst monitor ) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine and also has sensors 1 and 2
i just had mine changed it is underneath the truck on the exhaust on the passenger side, you need a special tool to remove the sensor hope that helps(it's a plug looking thing
Bank 1 would be the passenger (right) side of engine. Bank 1 Sensor 2 would be the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter on the passenger side.
There is no bank two on this van.
One can use a navigator or smartphone to navigate the closest Barclays bank that is in service. Before that, one should have to find out where Barclays banks are located by.
On a 2002 Lincoln LS , 3.0 liter V6 engine : Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine Sensor 1 would be close to the engine BEFORE the exhaust enters the catalytic converter
On a 2002 Lincoln LS : Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine ( on the 3.0 liter V6 and the 3.9 liter V8 engines ) Sensor 1 is close to the engine BEFORE the exhaust enters the catalytic converter
