The primary reason is still poaching, which is illegal hunting ,the tusks of the elephants is made up of material named Ivory and is considered valuable so the animal is killed for it.The second reason is humans encroaching on animals area have contributed mostly to the declining population of these magnificent animals. This has led elephants to wander outside their habitats and come into farm lands and the conflict between human settlements and elephants have been a major concern,we have to keep in mind that if their habitats are converted into human settlements they would feel perturbed. Barbed electric fences are also killing elephants.
