Where is the ignition module 97 explorer
is there spark through the wires to the plugs?
I understand it is by the coil. You have to remove the dog house, the coil is on the right side of the engine if you were sitting in the drivers seat.
it is part of the coil pack regardless what size of motor so if that's your problem replace the coil pack. Try one from a junkyard its cheaper
pull the two bolts buy new or used ignition coil the replace the ignition coil is on th left side of motor right by the tbi
the ignition coil is located under the top cover that says 2.4 quad
check all the fuses under the hood, if you are using a test light, do is with the ignition on, other than that, it could be the ignition module or coil packs
to replace the ignition Module on a v6 3.1 or 3.4 you must remove the coil pack from the the back top of engine. this coil pack is were the spark plug wires plug into. make sure to label wires be for removal it will help when going to reinstall. the coil pack is held in place by four bolts on a aluminum bracket. remove bolts and wires along with the three connectors ( two on one end and one on the other) each coil is bolted to the module by two 5.5mm bolts. remove the bolts and the coil will pull right off the module. repeat for all three coils. once coils are off module will be off.
A 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee has one ignition coil.
change the injectors you could have plugged injectors.
Ignition module then computer.
follow the coil wire in the center of the distributor cap back ( this is from the Hayne's repair manual )
