There is a DC motor on the end of your steering column under the dash. The position sensor is in the motor assy on the end of your steering column shaft. You have to remove your steering column, then take the assembly off of the column. You need to dissemble the assembly by removing a large snap ring, then the cylindrical cover comes off and the sensor is located right under the cover.
it is located behind the power steering pump. You need to remove the power steering pump and the rest is self explanatory.

You need to remove the power steering pump to get to it which requires removing the engine mount next to it to get the bottom bolt out of the power steering pump. The sensor is directly behind the power steering pump. You can follow the cable that goes behind the pump. It is the only one there.
The camshaft position sensor is right under the power steering pump. Remove the power steering pump to access the sensor.
the sensor under the pump on a 3.1 is, a cam sensor,
take the belt off, remove the three bolts by turning the pulley (there are three holes in it to see the bolts), then you can get to the camshaft sensor.
the cam sensor is under power steering pump! remove pump then set aside,do not remove any power steering hoses, cam sensor is reachable now!! take out bolt that holds it in place,pull straight up to remove..
if you do it yourself,you only pay for sensor!! to change sensor on a v6, remove power steering pump and set aside do not remove hoses,sensor is under pump!! remove hold down bolt then wiggle it out!!
The Camshaft Position Sensor is located behind the Power Steering Pump.
