It is mounted up under the truck right next to the gas tank, in front of it.

ours was hanging by the hose behind the intake manifold. not sure where it is supposed to be mounted.

It is Back of the block about mid ways. Easier to get to from under the car. It has two hoses going to it and one wire.
If your looking for the vent valve on a 2001 grand am, it is back where the fuel filter is located,under rear of car,the canister is in the center and the vent valve is on passenger side held on by one bplt, cant miss it got one big hose goin from bottom of canister to it
on v6 models , the purge valve is attached to the rear(firewall side) cylinder head below the ignition coils.
The purge valve solenoid on your 2001 Chevy Cavalier is located on the side of the engine. It is mounted on the block right below the intake manifold and can be distinguished because of the bracket attached to it.
The purge valve is connected to the intake manifold on 2001 and later models. If you look in the back you'll see where it's connected right behind the throttle with a small fitting and hose about 6 inches long. The Evap system is in the rear driver's side underneath behind the wheel. You'll see a big canister held up by 2 nuts.
