1. Open the hood. 2. Find the intake/exhaust manifold. On the top front of the motor. 3. Look on the right side of the manifold. It is the round thing, about 1-3/4" diameter and about 2" front to rear. Housing is metal, semi bright. 4. It is attached with two safety bolts (5 point if I remember correctly) internal. Easy to get to and easy to remove.
The 2002 Grand Vitara EGR valve is located on top of the engine. The EGR valve will be between the engine and the battery.

The 1997 Chevrolet Astro EGR valve is located on the top of the engine valve cover. The EGR valve can be access from under the hood. You will not need to remove any engine cover.

not sure about the 96 but they are similar to the 97. On the 97 you remove the plastic cover, the EGR valve is located on the left side (standing in front of and facing the car) to the rear of the engine about the 11 oclock position.Answerit should be under warranty - there was a recall or something

Pretty sure the 97 Honda CRV doesn't have an EGR valve. I have a service manual for the 97 and it's nowhere to be found. I think some Civics didn't have one either.
On the Head itself.
After unbolting the EGR valve, clean it with a carburetor spray. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling the valve.
