On the 4.0 engine it is on the right side when you are standing in front of the vehicle facing the engine. It has a metal tube coming out of the bottom that runs down to the exhast pipe.
As far as I can tell, there is no EGR valve on 1993 Ford Aerostar 3.0L engines. I have searched and found none and the vacuum hose routing decal in the engine compartment does not show an EGR valve.
it doesnt have one
I have repaired my vehicles for over 40 years, the engineers at ford have finally hidden a part from me, I have been looking for 3 weeks I cant find the EGR VALVE on the 94 3.0 liter aerostar.
egr valve location on a 1997 ford ranger 23l
At least some Aerostars (like the 1990 3 liter) do not have an EGR valve, they use a 3 way catalytic converter.
It probably doesn't have one. If you don't see it stuck on the driver's side of the throttle body, that one came EGR valve-less.
Plugged EGR passage which restricts the flow of exhaust gasses, faulty EGR solenoid, faulty EGR solenoid wiring/harness, vacuum lines damaged or disconnected to the EGR valve solenoid or to the EGR valve, or a faulty EGR valve.
My 4.0 awd aerostar does not have an egr. If you have pinging, and done all the usual tune up stuff, try putting in spark plugs from the 3.0 engine. the different reach range cured my pinging!
Where is the EGR valve located on a 2000 Ford Explorer
How do you replace the EGR Valve on a 2001 Ford Escape?
No. A 1996 does not have egr.
It is located on the Left Side ( facing the engine) by the Alternator.
