A bridge is a network device that enables you to connect two networks (like your home network) with another one (like the internet) in a more-or-less transparent way. Usually, networks are connected via routers, which have their external (visible on the outside network) and internal (visible on the internal network) IP addresses. When you do a traceroute, a router will be a "hop" in the route, in other words, it will be shown as a definite "milestone" on a data packet's way from source to destination. If the network is connected via a bridge, the bridge itself does not have it's own IP address and won't be visible on the packet's route. A simple example of a bridge: You have some kind of a DSL line from your ISP, and have one assigned "public" IP address. You want your computer to be fully visible on the Internet under this address. You must then use the DSL unit in "bridge" mode, which will enable you to assign that single public IP address to your computer; the DSL device will not be visible on the way. Alternatively, you might use the device in "router" mode, resulting in the router having that public IP address. Your computer (and some other ones on the same network) will get different IP addresses, can even be so called private IP addresses (see: NAT). You'd have to configure port forwarding, which essentially means opening on the router IP ports for the necessary services (like WWW/HTTP server, FTP server, or whatever you need the computer to be visible for) and telling the router to pass the communication from these ports directly to the same ports on your computer. ---- The context of the question needs some clarification. The "Gateway Bridge" is a major bridge over the Brisbane River, linking the northern arterial roads with the southern arterial roads.

What is the name of the longest suspension bridge?

The beautiful Golden Gate Bridge is the large suspension bridge located in San Francisco, spanning the gateway between the opening of the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The length of the bridge from abutment to abutment is 1.7 miles, the width is 97 feet and the bridge weighs around about 887 thousand tons including anchorages and approaches. The bridge is painted Orange Vermillion, also known as International Orange, and needs constant touch ups to make sure the salt content in the air does not erode it. When the Golden Gate Bridge was completed in 1937, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. It is now the 2nd longest suspension bridge in the United States and the world's 9th longest suspension bridge.

How long is bribie island bridge?

Shore to shore, the Bribie Island Bridge is 840m. For comparison purposes, the Ted Smout Bridge between Redcliffe and Shorecliffe which has a similar flat construction is 2.7km. However while the shore to shore distance for the 67m high Gateway bridge on the Brisbane River is only 470m, yet 17km of approach road had to be rebuilt when it was duplicated in 2009. The question is always how much of the approaches should be considered part of the bridge? The approaches on the Bribie and the Smout were relatively short and cheap.
