As far as I can tell Ford's have either a map sensor or a maf sensor but not both. I believe 2004's use the maf sensor. MAF means mass air flow, and the sensor is located just past your air filter. It is a large cylindrical piece that air flows through, around 3-4 " in diameter and has an electrical plug on the side. For older vehicles you have a map sensor, which is a barometric pressure sensor usually located on the sidewall of the engine compatment. It is a small plastic piece mounted on the side with one cable going to it.

It doesn't have a knock sensor on the 4.0 L OHV in a 1993 Ranger ( my 1995 Ford Explorer 4.0 L OHV engine doesn't have a knock sensor either )

Some of the 1992 Rangers had the camshaft position sensor on top of the engine in the same hole where the distributor used to be. Some Ranger engines did not use a camshaft sensor at all.
