The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) does not have a specific book in The Bible, but rather believes that the entire Bible, both Old and New Testaments, are the holy word of God. The official Bible of the Church in English speaking countries is the King James Version.

Mormons are unique from many other Christians in that while they believe the Bible is scripture, they do not believe it is the only scripture. Mormons have an open canon (meaning they believe God still speaks to prophets and thus new scripture can be written) and use the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price as canonized scripture. The words of church leaders (the Prophet and Twelve Apostles) are also sometimes treated the same as scripture although they are not canonized as such.

The Book of Mormon (click for a free copy) is a record of God's dealings with the inhabitants of North and South America from the time of the Tower of Babel until about 300 AD. It supports and validates the messages and stories found in the Bible and contains an account of Jesus Christ visiting the people following the Crucifixion.

The Doctrine & Covenants contains the published revelations of the church's founding prophet, Joseph Smith, and a handful of subsequent prophets. It mostly outlines the organization, doctrine, and early history of Mormonism.

The Pearl of Great Price contains a handful of revelations, translations, and other writings of Joseph Smith.

While the sermons of modern Prophets and Apostles are not canonized scripture, they are studied regularly and believed to be the revealed word of God to His church.

Does the Bible does talk about the Book of Mormon?

Yes or no, depending on whether you are a Mormon -Isaiah 29:11-12 contains an oracle of a book that the recipient could not read because he was illiterate. If this is to be read as a prophecy of a book yet to be compiled, it could be a prophecy of the Hebrew Bible or the Christian Bible, but Mormons prefer to read it as a direct reference to the Book of Mormon.

How are the book of Mormon and the quran the same?

They are both religious texts considered scripture by their believers, but otherwise they are not very similar. The Qur'an is comperable to the Bible and has some similar stories. Because Mormons use both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, there was no need to repeat the Bible stories in the Book of Mormon.

Is book of Mormon a masonic book?

No. Anyone familiar with Masonry who reads the Book of Mormon would find no correlation. The Book of Mormon is similar to the Bible and is considered by Mormons as another testament of Jesus Christ, to be used side-by-side with the Bible. You can read the Book of Mormon online at the "Related Links" below.

Why are people against Mormons but for the Bible?

The "Book of Mormon" is not the Bible, and many Christians are opposed to the Book of Mormon being placed beside or ahead of the Bible. One of the "solas" of the Reformation is "Scripture Alone." The Reformation's teaching is that the scripture stands by itself as the only rule we have for faith and practice. The objection is the Book of Mormon being elevated to the status that belongs only to the Bible.

Do the Mormons believe The Book of Revelation is a book of the Bible?

No. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe that the Book of Revelation is a very important part of the Bible. Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church, stated that the Book of Revelation was "one of the plainest books God ever caused to be written" and strongly encouraged that it be studied. Among Mormons, the Book of Revelation is probably studied and quoted more than the Epistles of Paul. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints accepts and uses all the books in the standard King James Version of the Bible, although Joseph Smith said that "the Songs of Solomon are not inspired writings."

Do Mormons believe in the King James version of the Bible?

Yes. The King James Version of the Bible is the official Bible of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) in English-speaking nations. Members are welcome to use a KJV Bible published by any source, but many choose to use an edition published by the Church. The text is the same as all other KJV Bibles, but it includes cross references to the Book of Mormon, which Mormons use as an additional book of scripture. You can order a copy of the King James Version of the Bible published by the Mormon Church at the "Related Links" below.

What are the bad things that they say about Mormons?

Many things that people say against Mormons simply come from someone who is uninformed or has a different opinion. This does not mean that it is bad, but it is often offensive. Those who are uninformed or misinformed often say: -Mormons are polygamist (this practice was banned by the church over 120 years ago in 1890) -Mormons dont believe in the Bible (Mormons consider the King James Version of the Bible as sacred scripture and are encouraged to study it daily) -Mormons don't believe in Jesus (Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is their Savior, just like all Christians) -Mormons are cultish (Mormons live and dress and act just like most anyone else in society. They do not live on compunds, etc.) -Mormons worship Joseph Smith (Mormons believe Joseph Smith was a prophet, just like Moses or Abraham, not a god to be worshipped) -Mormons kidnap, brainwash, coerce, etc (Mormons wish everyone to make their own decisions, and define their standards by Scripture) Those who have different opinions and say things that are offensive to Mormons often say: -Mormons are not Christian (Mormons are not traditional Protestant Christians, but they do still believe in the Bible and salvation through Jesus Christ.) -Mormons are lying (Mormons honestly believe they are telling the truth) -Mormonism is a pyramid scheme (Mormons believe in paying a Tithe and in missions work to gain converts, but believe this is Biblically based and do not seek converts for monetary gain) -Mormons are unbiblical (Mormons believe that they are following the Bible very strictly, but the Bible can be interpreted differently by different people) -Mormonism is false (this is obviously just an opinion, but one that is often offensive to those who honestly believe)
