It is under the gas tank, to reach it you must remove the 2 screws in the front of the gas tank. *Edit to original poster's answer;
You also have to remove the seat, and take out the bolt at the back end of the fuel tank. Before lifting the tank off, turn the petcock off, and remove the fuel line from the base of the petcock. The air filter is right there. You can use canned air to blow it clean if it isn't too dirty. If it is really filthy, it is best to replace it outright.

I believe there is one at the fuel pickup in the pump...
