you should pass them through one of the existing rubber grommets that are already there for the wiring harness, you can also route the wires along the loom or inside the protective cover for a cleaner install.
The powertrain control module (PCM) is visible from the engine compartment. It passes through the firewall on the passenger side. The wiring is on the engine side of the firewall and the body of the PCM is inside the Explorer located behind the glove compartment.
On a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer : The Powertrain Control Module ( PCM ) is in the engine compartment , passing through the firewall . From the engine compartment , towards the passenger side of the engine compartment , you will see where the wiring harness is bolted to one end of the PCM at the firewall ( most of the PCM is " hidden " behind the glove compartment )
You can see one end of the Powertrain Control Module from the engine compartment It passes through the firewall , most of the PCM is " hidden " behind the glove compartment but you can see where the wiring harness is bolted to the end of the PCM on the firewall over towards the passenger side of the engine compartment
The powertrain control module passes through the passenger side of the firewall. Looking in the engine compartment, you can see where the wiring harness is bolted to the end of the PCM. The body of it is inside behind the glove compartment.
When confronted with this dilemma (has happened many times) I look inside the egine compartment, along the firewall, for a rubber grommet which covers a hole, in the firewall, through which wires or cables have been routed, by the manufacturer. It's crude; but I loosen the grommet and verify that it cleanly accesses the passenger compartment, then I drill or cut a small hole, through the grommet, run the wires through, reposition the grommet, and, if necessary, put some rubberized sealant over the newly drilled or cut hole, to prevent water leaks into the passenger compartment. Works fine for me.
The PCM ( powertrain control module ) is visible from the engine compartment. It is installed through the firewall on the passenger side , the wiring harness is visible and the rest of the PCM is "hidden" inside the Explorer behind your glove compartment
The powertrain control module is mounted through the firewall on the passenger side. One end is visible in the engine compartment where the wiring harness is bolted to the PCM , and the rest is "hidden" behind the glove compartment
You can see one end of the Powertrain Control Module in the engine compartment It has a wiring harness bolted to it , it passes through the firewall and the rest of the PCM is " hidden " behind the glove compartment on the passenger side
The powertrain control module is installed through the firewall on the passenger side The wiring harness bolted to one end of the PCM is visible from the engine compartment and the body of the PCM is " hidden " behind the glove compartment area
The separation between the engine compartment, and you, is called the firewall. The Steering shaft, from your steering wheel runs through the firewall, the heater hoses run through the firewall, the power brake vacuum unit is connected to the firewall, your ignition wires etc run through the firewall.
You can see where the wire harness is bolted to the end of the Powertrain Control Module ( PCM ) from the engine compartment . The PCM passes through the firewall , on the passenger side ( most of the PCM is " hidden " behind the glove compartment
In a 1995 Ford Explorer : You can see one end of the ( Powertrain Control Module / PCM ) from the engine compartment . You will see where the wiring harness is bolted to the PCM as it passes through the firewall , near the passenger side of the engine compartment . Most of the PCM is " hidden " behind the glove compartment
