This is the opposite of the most common fail mode for the GC. Usually the problem is no heat. However, the switch between heat and AC is controlled by the blend doors and they can break and fall into the wrong place blocking AC. More information is needed. Yes, Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokees both have issues with the evaporators leaking refrigerant in many cases. Also problems with blend doors on dual zone systems and the actuators that move the doors are problematic. There is an informative aticle on this at DenLorsTools.com under Tech Articles. Well, I don't know if there is a problem, but I do know when I went into the local dealer to ask how much to replace on my 2000 Jeep Cherokee the service manager I was waiting for was on the phone answering that exact question for another Cherokee owner. I think that is more than a coincident. I think they have a problem. By the way the answer to my question - $1,100. I went shopping for a new car today... RKC

The "blend" doors have broken in the dash. You will need to have the entire dash removed and the blend door replaced. You should also have the recuirculation door replaced because it is prone to breaking too.
