How does the brake plunger work on 95 Ford Escort?

1. Locate the switch near the top of the brake pedal and disconnect the electical connector. 2. Loosen the switch lock nut and unscrew the switch from the bracket. 3. Installation is the reverse of these steps. 4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake light switch. Loosen the switch lock nut and turn the switch until its plunger is clear of the brake pedal. 5. Loosen the lock nut on the pedal push rod. Turn the push rod to bring pedal height to 7.6 inches. 6. Turn the brake light switch clockwise until its plunger touches the brake pedal, then turn it one half turn more and tighten its lock nut.

On a 92 Toyota Camry 6 cylinder Recently you can not shift the transmission gear out of park also brake light not come on when applied Is it brake switch problem?

Sounds like one to me. Instructions to replace: http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/13/fb/83/0900823d8013fb83.jsp If you have a defective brake light switch, it will not allow you to shift if in an automatic car. As you know, you have to depress the brake to put the car in gear; with this broken your car does not know you are pressing the brake and doesn't send the signal to the interlock shifter system. Hope that helps and good luck!

How do you change the brake light switch on a Audi A4 and were it is located at?

Here is the install procedure you should use and this applies to all new switches they have a purple housing: 1) Remove the bottom panel underneath your dashboard (if needed) 2) Push brake pedal down 3) Remove sensor electrical clip 4) Remove brake light switch by turning it 45 degrees to the left and pulling it out 5) Let go of brake pedal 6) Prep the sensor: make sure the plunger is pulled out fully (extended OUT) *warning* Make sure you do not push the plunger in at any time. 7) Here's the new step: Do not depress pedal as far as you can. Leave the pedal in it's normal position and push the brake light switch into the mounting hole. 8) You will hear several "clicks" which is essentially setting up the length of your plunger to the pedal. Turn the brake switch 45 degrees to the right to enable the "setting" for your brake. There is a tiny rotating part that activates the setting on your switch when you rotate it. 9) This is ONE time deal so if you mess up do not pull the plunger out to try again. 10) Install the electrical plug 11) Check brake lights, the lights should come on with very little brake pedal movement. If you need to depress the brake a lot in order for the lights to come on, you have done the "setting" part incorrectly. There's no fix for this, you'll have to get an exchange for a new part if they'll let you. Overall this is an easy install but can be annoying because of the one time setting deal. Hope this helps!

How do you install a brake light switch for a 1998 Chevy lumina 3100?

remove panel under drivers dash follow the brake pedal whre it goes up under dash. you will see a switch that contacts the brake pedal arm about 6 or 7 inches up from pedal. unplug the wire connector and just pull switch out it does not screw out it will click as you pull it because a spring tab holds the switch by the threads in the switch. once removed you will notice a button on the end of switch when no pressure is on the switch the switch is in closed circuit position and means power is going to rear brake lights put new switch on connector before mounting it do the stop lights work? yes put the switch back in and adjust as need by changing how deep the switch is in its mount.. no lights check for power on connector no power check fuses than check turn signal switch by wiggling it around while some looks foe lights a bad turn signal switch could cancel you brake lights if there is power on both sides of switch it means power and switch are good check bad bulbs or bad wire harness
