To clear the cooling system of air leave the radiator cap off, while the truck is running and the heat on with the fan switch on the highest setting. It may bubble some coolant over the fill spout but use some rags or paper towels initially to catch this overflow.I would suggest buying a stant lever style radiator cap that relieves the pressure for air in the system and it will force the extra fluid into the reservoir and then u can top off the coolant/water mix and resolve the trapped air!Once the thermostat opens the coolant level should level off and have no over flow and run the truck for 15-20 minutes and put some cardboard in front of the radiator to speed the radiator getting up to the normal temps as I do on a coolant flush etc.Air rises to the highest point which is the radiator cap on these trucks(I know this being I have owned mine 23 years since new).Hope this helps explain things better than a manual.
