If Its Like the 1990 model, it doesn't have one. Simply open the car, and press the front end of the gas cover towards the front. That should do it.

there is no release you just push on the door near the hinge and it opens
On my 91 190e I had that problem once in a bit of a blonde moment. Apparently the gas tank door is linked to the door locks. The doors on the car must be unlocked for the gas tank door to open. I hope your problem is as simple as this.

Should be a 16 gal. I have a 1993 190e, and it has a 16 gal tank. By the way, there should be a sticker on the side of your filling door that says how big the tank is.

Button on your dash, or the key that opens your door. If those don't work you're gonna have to start breaking stuff.
make sure the trunk is unlocked - then just push on the forward end of the cover door and it should tilt open. The trunk lock will also lock the fuel door.
It depends on whether your button is more than one block away from the entity you want to activate. If it is next to, say, a door, pressing the button will open the door without the use of redstone. If, however, you wish to distance the button from the door, then you will need a line of redstone connecting the button to the door.
There is no such thing as a 1998 190E, BTW - It was replaced by the C-class in 1993... On my Mercedes (1984) there is no cap lock, when you lock or unlock the doors, the gas latch (door) is locked or unlocked automatically.
The Door to December was created in 1985.
The spring holding the door button in place has fallen out. Remove the door handle and replace.
