IT'S UNDER THE POWER STEERING PUMP YOU HAVE TO REMOVE IT TO GET IT OUT.

Was able to replace the cam shaft sensor by removing the alternator,didnt have to remove the power steering pump.Used an extended mirrir to locate the sensor and removed it with a 1/4" drive 10mm long socket.NOTE: The alternator comes out by reoving 2 bolts, lay it off to the side and reach down and you can feel it. GOOD LUCK>

It could be on either end of the cylinder head, or in a distributor.

I would like to know where the cam sensor is on a 1999 pathfinder and is there one or they calling it a crank shaft sensor The cam shaft position sensor is located in the distributor.

It does not have one on that year.

the camshaft position sensor is used to synchronize the fuel injection system with the opening of the intake valves. It synchs the cam shaft location with the crankshaft location It can be in a distributor or it can read a tone wheel on the cam shaft.
