The 2001 Lexus coolant temperature sensor can be found on the front of the engine. The coolant temperature sensor will be in the vicinity of the thermostat housing.
next to radiator upper hose at left side if sitting in car follow hose to two wire connector bingo
V 6 300
It is built into the air flow meter.
The engine coolant temperature sensor is located at the timing belt end of the engine on the water outlet casting.
follow top radiator hose away from radiator to a cast metal grey looking box,(for lax of description) you will see a single wire going to connector on left of box, that is one engine coolant sensor, right side of same box is another sensor with 2 or 3 wires, that is the other temperature sensor, one does instrument guage and the other does computer temp and tranny shift ( ok to shift to 4th signal when warmed up ) to computer and tranny computer. I have purchased them from autozone etc, but do not think the instrument version is quite the right range because when you first crank up and get to end of driveway ( say 300 ft) the instrument temp says its warmed up,which is wrong, you might want to get instrument sensor from KIA so you get right tolerance from sensor.
"Toyota Long Life Coolant" or equivalent.
Most likely its not your mass air flow sensor its gonna be your tp sensor (throttle position) or your down stream oxygen sensor because a MAF sensor controls your ITS or Ideal temp sensor witch can affect your accel and your idle when under a load but when its at rest or idle it will be affected by a tp sensor of O2 sensor they call the O2 sensor the spark plug that never gets changed..

is it safe to use prestone coolant in my1998 lexus es 300
It does not have a maf sensor.
It runs when th e coolant temperature reaches about 212 or when ac pressure is about 300 psiIt runs when th e coolant temperature reaches about 212 or when ac pressure is about 300 psi
