Sensor to the ecu is on the drivers side close to the front on the engine block right below the valve cover. The sender/switch to the gauge is on the diver side. On the valve cover close to the fire wall... Same location that the bolts holding on the valve cover r in.

The "Coolant Sensor", for the ECU, is right next to the water neck at the front of the engine. the "Coolant sender", for the temperature guage, should be on the back of the head at the rear of the engine!
On my 1999 Jeep Wrangler the batt. temp sensor is underneath the battery and mounted to the batt. base plate through a hole in the plate.
