Replace it with a good relay of the same type from another system of the car. If the fan operates properly your relay was bad. If the fan doesn't work properly, that doesn't mean your relay isn't bad, it means there is another issue.
There are several relays. ABS relay is mounted to the firewall driver side. Radiator fan relay is mounted on the inner fender by the battery. There are also 3 mounted on the passenger side on the inner fender back by the windshield.
There are three of them, and they are all located in the fuse/relay box on top of the battery. The inside of the box cover is labeled to indicate their locations.
i dont think it has a relay According to the Hanes manual for Shadows, the cooling fan relay is located just above the battery. If you look at the battery, look due north, but just below the strut housing for your wheel. You should see 3 relays. The one in the corner should be the cooling fan relay. (on my '93 shadow, that relay is the starter relay.
Usually under the hood on right side fender. Should be 3 relays clipped together. One is for the fuel pump.
More likely the temp. sensor. Yes it could be the relay
When you jump across it, you are shorting out the circuit - commonly used for testing components to see that they will turn on. When everything is connected the way it should be, there is also a thermostat which comes into play in the circuit - unless the thermostat gives the "command" for cooling, the fans will not start up.
