The guy at Pontiac said it requires a series of steps. He wasn't even sure. The Pontiac dealership will program it though for $60 so this question is really worth answering. Sorry I couldn't help.

I'm having the same problems. my 94' Firebird is a 3.4l v6 and varies on the range of RPM's when you put it in park or neutral. i took it to a local repair shop and they said it could be a broken computer chip. or simple as restoring the defaults on the computer chip
I believe that the fuel pump for the 94 Pontiac sunbird is in the gas tank.
I have a 94 Firebird and on the bottom of the shifter knob there is a "U" shaped clip. You will have to shift into L1 to see it since it is on the front of the knob. Once you pull out the clip, it slides off and you can replace it with whatever kind you wnat but make sure the "push to shift" function is on the new knob.
