This truck has two fuel pumps. A low pressure electric pump and a high pressure mechanical injection pump. Both are on the left side of the engine. The injection pump can easily be seen with the hood open. The electric pump may be more easily seen from underneath the truck.
The 24 valve has an electric lift pump. It does not have a primer button.
Front driver side of the engine.
It is inside the injection pump and is not serviceable.
Anytime a diesel engine will not run the fuel delivery system is in question. Fuel pumps, fuel filters, clogged injectors, etc. I have owned severall diesel trucks and a problem lilke this always boils down to something in the fuel system, in my experience. Good luck.
On a gas engine it is in the gas tank. On diesel it is on the driver side of the block.
Did you prime the fuel system after changing it?
There wasn't a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 diesel.
The lift pump is on the lower driver side of the engine block. The injection pump is on the upper driver front side of the block.
No such part
I have a 1994 Monaco RV with a Cummings 300 diesel with what I believe has air in the fuel line. How do I remove the air, I pushed the primer button below the fuel pump until I could smell fuel, the engine turned over for about 15 sec. and still no start. Help! Dan

Gas engines, it is part of the fuel pump module in the tank Diesel engine, it is on the left side of the engine block.
